ABOUT RECHAKA

Take a deep breath in.
Slowly exhale, let your shoulders, chest, belly soften.

We take between 12-20 breaths in a minute, how many of them do we pay attention to?

Contemplative practices that encourage making space, pausing and tuning in have been around for centuries. Dance, prayer, song, pilgrimage, writing, breath work, meditation and yoga to name a few, offer space for the nervous system and breath to regulate, soften, release.

Rechaka (pronounced ray-chuck or ray-chuck-uh) is the Sanskrit term for ‘exhalation’. Notice that it’s the exhale that helps your body soften?

Inspired by this, I founded RECHAKA for you to create space for yourself, away from a world full of distraction.

Using yoga postures (āsana), breathwork (pranayāma) visualisation and meditation, I aim to introduce/re-introduce to you to tools to tune back into you.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Hello! I’m Gina, a yoga teacher, pregnancy & postnatal yoga teacher, and a doula based between Leicester, Milton Keynes and London.

I started RECHAKA after spending over 10 years working in communications in London. Though I loved my job, I neglected other important parts of life, and I wasn’t alone. I witnessed everything from back pain to burnout, people forgetting to eat and general overwhelm - ‘balance’ is hard.

As my career grew, I tuned into wellbeing and trained as a yoga teacher in 2023 to guide others to reconnect with themselves. Obsessed with women's health and the birthing body, I also qualified in pregnancy, postnatal yoga, and as a doula to support birth and postpartum.

I aim to create welcoming, safe spaces for people to tune into their needs, whether at home, work, or during labour.

If something here speaks to you and you'd like to learn more, I offer 20-minute consultation calls. Feel free to reach out, even if you're unsure about your needs.

My yoga journey

I’ve had back pain since I was 12 years old.

Doctors advised me against yoga because I have slight hyper-mobility (aka "double-joints"). But an aversion to pain killers and years of self-discovery led me to understand that movement is the best medicine and strength is essential for hyper-mobility. I found both in yoga - proof that it’s is not all about being bendy.

Twenty years later and still, nothing beats taking the time to listen to what the mind, body and spirit needs - on and off the mat.

For me, yoga is not about complex poses or being flexible - in my case, it can even be counterproductive. Sometimes, the most simple movement can have the greatest effect.

I teach a slower paced practices with time to reflect, and optional builds if they feel right for you - because after all, you know you best.
